About this scholarship
The Amelia Earhart Fellowship awards US$12,000 to up to 30 women of any nationality pursuing a full-time PhD or doctoral programme with research applied to aerospace engineering or space sciences. Applicants must have completed at least one year of that doctoral programme or hold a master's degree in an aerospace-applied field, and must not graduate before April 2028. Postdoctoral programmes are excluded and previous fellows may not renew. Deadline 15 November 2026.
Minimum requirements
Woman of any nationality; enrolled full-time in a PhD/doctoral programme with research applied to aerospace engineering or space sciences; at least one year of that programme completed or a master's in an aerospace-applied field; not graduating before April 2028.
Application checklist
- Confirm full-time enrolment in a PhD/doctoral programme with research applied to aerospace engineering or space sciences
- Confirm at least one year of the doctoral programme completed, or hold a master's in an aerospace-applied field
- Confirm you will not graduate before April 2028
- Confirm you are not in a postdoctoral programme and have not previously held this fellowship
- Submit the application via the official Zonta page before 15 November 2026
Application tips
- The applied test matters: frame your research explicitly around aerospace engineering or space-science applications, not general engineering.
- The April 2028 graduation floor is a hard rule — if you graduate earlier, you are ineligible even with a strong record.
- With only two weeks from 1 November to the deadline, prioritise the official application form over supplementary polish.
- Previous fellows cannot renew, so if you held this fellowship before, do not reapply — look for a different award instead.
Always verify deadline, amount and eligibility on the official page before applying. Values marked ESTIMATE are based on a previous cycle and are not confirmed for the current round.
